The Ark

Does God have a Blue Chip?

Ever asked yourself whether God has a blue chip? If He has what that has that got to do with you? The most famous verse in the Bible says:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NIV

This simply tells us that nothing in the whole universe means as much to God as us. God's blue chip has your name on it! We haven't lived the way God wants us to, many times we have ignored Him. Our way of ignoring God and doing our own thing is what the Bible calls "sin" – it is a word that means we have failed God.

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Rom 3:23 NLT

Sin brings death – when we ignore God and don't do anything about our estranged relationship with Him, our own actions cut us off from His life. The great thing about God though is that he is full of good news!

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 6:23 NLT

So God's bluest chip is you! He sent His own son Jesus to be a substitute for us and experience death on our behalf. Now all we have to do is come back to God and accept what Jesus has done for us. It is simple – all we have to do is say sorry, turn away from our old way of living and walk God's way. If you had fallen out with a parent or a friend, the way back would be the same. This time however, the consequences of not mending this relationship are grave. Perhaps sorting out your relationship with God needs to become your bluest chip of all? Want to know more?
