The Ark

Minister - Stephen Redman

Stephen Redman may have been born in Grimsby but he moved to Yorkshire on his first birthday and has been here ever since. His first time living in York was in 1977 when he came to University to read Physics. Since that time he has been committed to various leadership positions in church and spent over 20 years in retail management in the technology sector.

In 2003, Stephen planted the Ark Church in a community centre just inside the ring road and after a couple of moves it is back in the heart of this estate.

Stephen is married to Pauline, and has three grown-up daughters: Libby, Melody & Arielle. Stephen and Pauline's son Rocky died of cancer in 2001 when he was 7 years old

Stephen is a published author and has ministerial credentials from the Order of St Leonard. He also has a Masters Degree in Practical Theology. Stephen still has a role within the children's cancer charity 'Candlelighters', (having previously been a Trustee for many years) serves as the Chair of the 'Friends of Amarna House' (a local care home) and is also on the board of the national charity Attend. Stephen is very committed to the local unity group of church and ministry leaders 'One Voice' of which he also served for many years as a Trustee.
